Welcome to the Safe Kids Grand Forks Team Page!
I am thrilled that Safe Kids Grand Forks was chosen for the second year in a row to have a runner in the Marine Corps Marathon. Last year, Julie Jeske poured her heart out for Safe Kids Grand Forks as she ran in this marathon to support the work that we do in injury prevention. I was there as Julie ran 26.2 miles and ended with her metal atop the hill by the Iwo Jima Memorial in Washington D.C. Julie was my hero that day!!!
Each and every day, we have heros, much like Julie going to work for Safe Kids Grand Forks in an effort to keep the children of our community and region safe from unintentional injuries (the number one killer of kids in this age group). Albiet, not all of them run in marathons to raise money, but they help at car seat checks, install smoke alarms, fit bike helmets, teach water safety classes or visit with parents and caregivers to name just a few activities. I am so very proud of each and every one of them for the work that they do.
I hope you will join our efforts as we solicit funding for our injury prevention work. Each $5, $10 or $100 dollar donation helps to assure that the children of our community and region are kept safe. Thank you for your support in this marathon we call "injury prevention". We are lucky to have a community with members like you who are eager and willing to help send Julie to Washington, D.C. to participate in the “People’s Race” in October!
Sincerely and with a proud heart for all our volunteers,
Carma Hanson
