Thank you for taking the Safe Kids Water Safety Pledge

Please help us spread the word on water safety, and ask five friends and family members to join you in taking the pledge.

Five Steps to Keep Kids Safe In and Around Water this Summer:

1. Download a Water Watcher card
When there are several adults present and children are swimming, use a Water Watcher card to designate an adult as the Water Watcher to prevent gaps in supervision.

2. Make sure your pool or spa has proper barriers & drain covers
Learn more about the measures you should take to secure your pool or spa by reading the CPSC Safety Barrier Guidelines and the CPSC Safety Drain Cover Manufacturer List.

3. Become certified in CPR
Find a class in your community

4. Enroll your child in swimming lessons
To find swimming lessons, contact your local parks and recreation department or visit the YMCA Web site to find a YMCA near you.

5. Wear a life jacket when boating
If you and your family boat frequently, consider taking a boating safety class through U.S. Coast Guard.
